From the outside, an inverter looks like a metal box that converts DC power from solar panels into AC power for your building. That's the surface illusion. 7. What about wind turbines? Are they eco-friendly?

This is a common question that comes up when discussing solar. Are wind turbines eco friendly? Yes, they have a very low carbon footprint over their lifetime. But for a commercial building, a small wind turbine is rarely a good idea compared to adding more solar panels. The permitting, maintenance, and zoning issues are significant. Stick with solar unless you have very specific, windy conditions. I learned this the hard way after our CEO got excited about a 'green' wind turbine proposal that turned out to be a compliance nightmare.

8. Should I just order the Fronius kit online, or go through a distributor?

For a commercial project, go through a reputable distributor. Online marketplaces might have a lower upfront price, but you lose the technical support and warranty backing. When my order from a new online vendor arrived with a missing component (ugh), the distributor we usually use had a replacement to me in 2 days. The time savings alone was worth the higher price.
